State Ports Authority Approves $114M Capital Spending Plan

SPA, the State Ports Authority, approved a new $113.5M capital spending plan for the coming year in a continued effort to attract, longer and heavier vessels calling on CHS, including wharf improvements, new container cranes, and a $20M new terminal building on the old Navy Base in N CHS.   SPA forecasts about a 3.4% increase in container traffic in the coming hear and a nearly 10% increase in noncontainerized condo.  They also reported another (now seven) customers using the new Upstate Inland Port in Greer.  The Post and Courier’s Tyrone Richardson has the story.
