SC Tourism – 39 Million Visitors Per Year and $18 Billion Industry

Charleston is the #2 tourist destination in the state behind Myrtle Beach (?really?) as part of the state’s $18B tourism industry that results in some 39 million visitors each year to the Palmetto State.  (Overall, CHS gets about 5 million visitors a year).  Through the first half of 2015, all indicators are positive (hotel occupancies up 2% and room demand up 3%, average room rates up 6% and REVPAR up 8%) – and “tourism is alive and well in South Carolina”, all according to an article from the Associated Press’ Bruce Smith via The Post and Courier.
