Southeastern Grocers of JAX FL announced it will close the 46,000 SF Bi-Lo at 1440 Ben Sawyer Blvd. in Mount Pleasant in January, their 3rd such closure announcement for CHS in the past year. It closed the Remount Road store in April and their downtown Meeting Street location in September. Warren Wise of The Post and Courier has the story here.
Bi-Lo is closing its 39k SF Remount Road store, just west of Rhett Avenue in N CHS. The company says they have no plans to close any of its other 16 remaining stores in the region. Warren Wise has the announcement here for The Post and Courier.
An Atlanta investor has sold the former Pigg at 445 Meeting Street to a local JV of McAlister Development and The Peninsula Co. that bought the ground lease for about $10.8M, or about $113/SF of land area and a sub-5 cap rate. John McDermott of The Post and Courier has the story here.

The grocery wars may be taking its toll on the retailers in Summerville as the Bi-Lo at Dorchester Road and Old Trolley Road has announced it is closing Sept 10, according to Abigail Darlington’s article in The Post and Courier. Bi-Lo’s other four locations in Summerville will remain open, along with other grocers in that market including a new HarrisTeeter, another HarrisTeeter under construction, two Publix’, three Food Lions, two Piggly Wiggly’s, a Target Fresh Grocery, two Wal-Marts SuperCenters with grocery, and a recently announced EarthFare.
